Guardian coverage of HeHe Cambridge Lido installation
Posted on 23.03.2011After an amazing week in Cambridge (17th-21st March) with the Lido art installations attracting a large audience and lots of interest, we have just been covered by the Guardian.
Local people were interested in the recreation of the oil rig disaster by HeHe aiming to highlight how burning oil is affecting our health and the environment. A regular swimmer at the Lido said “I wish the oil rig would become a permanent feature.”
The outdoor exhibition was part of Cambridge Science Festival and over 400 people took part in Invisible Dust art and science Family workshops on Saturday 19th March. Participants took part in creating ink drawings, kazoo making (wind instruments), testing their lungs, understanding air pollution measurement and learning about London Air Quality Network website, most people at the workshop were between 5 to 10 years old and one parent’s feedback was ” Great for lots of different ages, it was very interesting to talk to the scientist about air pollution, I learnt a lot.”
The Invisible Dust artists and scientists talk with Professor Peter Brimblecombe, HeHe and Liz Ballard on Monday 21st March explored topics from Nuclear power to the Icelandic volcano.
