Along with an exhibition from Kathy Prendergast (more to come on this soon), the weekend will see the launch of ‘Future Fossils’, a new commission which will be displayed in the Rotunda Museum in Scarborough. ‘Future Fossils’ will take the form of a co-produced participatory art installation, created by Scarborough primary schoolchildren from St Peter’s RC Primary School in Scarborough and two local artists Janet White and Charlotte Salt, both from Crescent Arts.
As part of this year’s Yorkshire Fossil Festival in Scarborough, we are delighted to be working with our friends at Scarborough Museums Trust to present exhibitions and events over the festival weekend.
Janet, Charlotte and the children will collaborate to present the ‘future’ of geology, examining how local geology can offer insights into climate change. In the lead up to the opening the artists and school children are taking part in six weekly research and development sessions including discussions, trips to the beach and hands-on making.
The exhibition displayed in the Rotunda will invite visitors to bring in found objects to create a weekend long community sourced geological collection in the museum.
