About Raqs Media Collective

Delhi-based artists Raqs Media Collective formed in 1992 and are Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula, and Shuddhabrata Sengupta –’raqs’ in several languages denotes an intensification of awareness and presence attained by whirling, turning, and being in a state of revolution. For the artists ‘Raqs’ means ‘kinetic contemplation’ and a restless and energetic entanglement with the world and time. Exhibitions include Documenta, the Biennales of Venice, Istanbul, Taipei, Liverpool, Shanghai, Sydney and Sao Paulo. Solo and recently Thirst, Wellcome Collection, 2025.

Cloud Messengers traces the invisible threads that bind natural forces to systems of capital and control in a time of climate crisis. Raqs Media Collective have collaborated with Invisible Dust to create this new installation drawing speculative philosophical connections between monsoon rains, floods, trade and financial markets and actuarial science assessing risk.
