Forecast events series launch

New programme:

Today we are delighted to announce the first free online events for our new international programme, Forecast 37 March 2021.

Forecast is a positive response to the uncertainty of our current situation with the pandemic and accelerating climate change. Planning seems impossible – it has never been so unclear what lies ahead.

With artists, scientists and change-makers worldwide, Forecast will reimagine how we think about the future. The programme will encourage open and creative spaces where the aim is not to predict but to reflect.

Forecast will explore how we can adapt to uncertainty as the climate changes; what lessons we can draw from history to face the climate crisis and the pandemic; our relationship with nature; who would we like to make the decisions about our future and how will those decisions be made.

Forecast includes artists Jeremy Deller and Ryan Gander, campaigner Lily Cole, African Energy expert Rose M Mutiso, National History Museum Curator Miranda Lowe, psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist, environmentalist Jonathon Porritt; architect and artist Usman Haque and indigenous peoples representatives including Pat McCabe (Woman Stands Shining).

Major commission ‘Forecasting: Interesting Worlds’ from acclaimed Chinese artist Fei Jun. Commissioned performances from artists Ahilapalapa Rands and Adam Chodzko and Leonardo’s Submarine, an underwater Virtual Reality experience by artist and filmmaker Hito Steyerl.

More details of the event series, speakers and artworks can be found on Forecast’s homepage.
