COP21 and the Paris Pledge
Posted on 16.12.2015Last weekend, the Paris climate talks delivered a universal and legally binding agreement on climate change. While the agreement isn’t perfect, the agreement is a step forward from Copenhagen, and if adhered too will lead to a rapid decrease in the use of fossil fuels and a more sustainable future. One of the really positive things we saw during the Paris talks was the surge of energy from artists, activists and civic organisations, and it’s important this this energy is harnessed and turned into action now that the event itself is over.
As part of this, we have joined The Paris Pledge for Action, which states that:
“We welcome the adoption of a new, universal climate agreement at COP 21 in Paris, which is a critical step on the path to solving climate change. We pledge our support to ensuring that the level of ambition set by the agreement is met or exceeded.”
