Artist Shezad Dawood and writer Daisy Hildyard In Conversation
Saturday 16 November 2024, 1–2.15 pm at Scarborough Library
Join us for a conversation between artist Shezad Dawood and writer Daisy Hildyard, who have collaborated on the new Wild Eye digital commission Ambiguous Machines. Developed through dialogue with scientists, conservationists and local community groups, Ambiguous Machines conceives a coastal future affected by climate change, including rising sea temperatures and levels.
Come and hear Dawood and Hildyard share the inspirations behind the artwork, an Augmented Reality trail and accompanying story which weaves together science, storytelling, myth and local knowledge to explore an imagined future where human and marine species have evolved to become fused or hybrid. Following the event there will also be the opportunity to visit the three sites along Scarborough’s seafront with Dawood and Hildyard to experience the AR pieces in the twilight.
Find out more about the artwork Ambiguous Machines – which will launch in November 2024. This is the fourth commission in the Wild Eye trail, delivered in partnership with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, a regional environmental charity, Invisible Dust, a UK-based art-science organisation and North Yorkshire Council.
