Jeff Warburton
Jeff Warburton is Professor in Geomorphology at Durham University, UK. His research is concerned primarily with understanding the geomorphology and sediment transfer processes operating in upland and mountain catchments. Particular emphasis is placed on upland peat erosion; peat landslides; mountain debris flows and sediment transfer in mountain streams. Intensive field monitoring and geomorphological laboratory experiments underpin this work. A key methodology used extensively in these studies is sediment budget analysis for which improved measurement techniques and error analyses are being developed.
Professor Jeff Warburton worked with artist Laura Harrington throughout her residency at the Durham University Geography Department, exploring the many similarities between their areas of research. This project was part of Invisible Dust in Museums, a residency that lead to an exhibition at the Woodhorn Museum in 2015.
