Our own Alice Sharp will be chairing a conversation between Mariele Neudecker,
Fiona Fieber, Judith Knight and Susan Lambert focusing on art and sustainability.
The panel will take place alongside Mariele Neudecker’s Plastic Vanitas exhibition, which is on at Bow Art’s Trust’s exhibition space until the 27th of March.
A vanitas painting is a type of still-life painting that depicts beautiful objects associated with everyday life, presenting them as symbols of the worthlessness of earthly achievement and a reminder of human mortality. In Neudecker’s work, she plays off the vanitas genre, creating beautiful still images of plastic objects to ask questions about modern life, and the life cycles of the objects we surround ourselves with.
