Encounters exhibition at Library of the Month!

21/08/2018

We’re delighted to share that Whitby Library has been named the North Yorkshire County Council Library of the Month! Huge congratulations to the fantastic team at the library and North Yorkshire Library and Information Service, who we’ve been working with as part of our exhibition Encounters.

Encounters is an exhibition hosted in and amongst the book shelves, computers and comfy seating at Whitby Library with new work from Ahilapalapa Rands and Fiona MacDonald: Feral Practice.

The exhibition is part of worldwide events on the 250th anniversary of James Cook’s first voyage to the Pacific in 1768, Ahilapalapa and Fiona’s work explores the scientific and artistic impacts of Cook’s voyage, and the shared histories of encounter between Cook and the Peoples of the Pacific.

The exhibition ends on Friday 24th August.

Opening times:
Tuesday: 9.30am – 7pm, Wednesday: Closed, Thursday: 9.30am – 5pm, Friday: 9.30am – 5pm
