Evoking a mysterious, Dickensian London of ‘pea soupers’ smog is quintessentially associated with East London folklore and has inspired artists from Monet to Turner. It’s had an historic impact on how the East End has developed and is still affecting health and the environment today. This panel presents an artist, scientist and historian to debate this historically re-occurring issue that in turn cloaks us, inspires, and sometimes disables everyday life in the East End.
Art Smog and the East End runs as part of Create 11 Festival.
